Death Of 1-Year-Old Hawthorne Boy Under Investigation

HAWTHORNE (CBSLA.com) —  The death of a 1-year-old Hawthorne boy is under investigation, authorities said.

The boy died at a hospital about a half an hour after being found unresponsive in his home Wednesday evening.

The boy was identified Thursday as Jeremiah Adams, according to City News Service.

Police were dispatched to the 11700 block of Doty Avenue when the boy's mother, a 15-year-old high school student, returned home and found him unresponsive, according to Sheriff's Deputy Trina Schrader.

The boy was being cared for by his mother's adoptive mother, Schrader said.

An autopsy was pending to determine his cause of death.

"There were no visible signs of trauma to the child," she said.

The Sheriff's Department is assisting Hawthorne Police in the investigation. The investigation is continuing.
