More Republican Voters In Calif. Saying 'Yes' To Donald Trump, Poll Finds

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — If the presidential election were held today, 37 percent of registered Republican voters in California say they would support Donald Trump, according to a recent poll released Sunday.

The latest USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll said challenger Ted Cruz was a close second, with 30 percent of those surveyed indicating that they would support him.

"Donald Trump is still the Republican front runner, both in California and nationally, but it appears that there may be a ceiling on his support," said Dan Schnur, director of the USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times Poll and director of the Unruh Institute of Politics of USC.

"About 35 to 40 percent of primary voters are strong supporters of his candidacy, but there is still great resistance among the majority of Republicans," Schnur added.

The next primary is April 5th in Wisconsin, while the California primary is set for June 7th.
