Woman Shot By Boyfriend Outside Redlands Office Depot Remains In Critical Condition

HIGHLAND (CBSLA.com)  — A woman shot by her boyfriend during a hostage situation Thursday outside an Office Depot in Redlands remains in critical condition.

But KCAL9's Crystal Cruz said Friday that a campaign was started on social media to help save Kristin Bauer's life.

"It's weird, but I just felt really emotionally connected, like I knew what she was going through," says Katrina Copetillo, a blood donor.

Copetillo is a domestic-violence survivor and immediately wanted to help when she saw photos of Bauer shot while being held hostage by her boyfriend, Andrew Mike, in Redlands.

"I was just praying, put prayer chains on Facebook and told everyone to keep the faith, to keep praying for her," Copetillo said.

Mere hours after Bauer was rushed to a hospital, Copetillo went online to ask people to donate blood to their nearest Life Stream Blood Bank.

"I went and donated today. I've been doing it 30 years. No big deal," said blood donor Deanna Harvey.

Harvey has a bandage to prove her blood donation. She also asked people online to donate.

"Most people don't know that you can donate blood and designate it for a patient. ... You can help out. Go donate blood in her name," Harvey said.

Bauer and her boyfriend were possibly going through a breakup before he showed up at her workplace and was later shot and killed by police.

Mike also fired a shot inside the Office Depot, hitting a man in the hand. A family member told Cruz he's home doing fine.
