As March Madness Begins, Fans Have High Hopes For NCAA Tournament Brackets

STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — With Tuesday's play-in games complete, March Madness is officially here.

As usual, people are going mad over their NCAA tournament brackets.

One fan, Mathew Anderson, said he has $1,000 riding on his. He admits bias may have influenced some of his picks.

"This is where you get your home teams in and bleed your school," he said, pointing at his bracket.

All over the country, men and women in offices and at home took time this week to write down their picks.

With so many games available to watch online throughout the day, many fans sneak in a game or two while on the clock. (The NCAA offers a "boss button" to help conceal the activity).

And the excitement isn't just for fans. Sports bars such as Fox and Hounds in Studio City often see a huge jump in sales during March Madness.

So, how do fans pick the winners? Some said they choose their alma mater, or a childhood favorite.

KCAL9's Brittney Hopper has a different method ... using her favorite colors.

She's picking a Kansas versus University of North Carolina final, with Kansas taking the final win, 77-73.
