Police Hope To Nab Suspected Sexual Predator In Connection With 3 Attacks At Local Park

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they are hoping to catch a  suspected sexual predator who stands accused of attacking three women at a local park.

All three incidents at the wetlands park located between S. San Pedro Street and Avalon Boulevard happened in the evening.

LAPD Capt. Michael Rimkunas says in each case the victim fought back and the attacker ran away. The first incident happened in October, the second in February, and the third in March.

"Because I see a lot of cars in the parking lot at night so I don't know what they're doing," said Donna Wright, who visits the park often and isn't surprised the attacks unfolded in the evening.

Police have released a sketch of the suspect and hope those who have an idea of who he is will make contact with authorities. They would also like to hear from any other potential victims.

"We want people to use the park and we want people to come out, but come out in pairs and be vigilant, and to be mindful of your surroundings," Rimkunas said.

Authorities said all three attacks happened on either a Friday or Saturday.

"It's pretty scary to know that somebody was out here sexually assaulting a woman," said Mayra Carrillo-Martinez.
