8-Year-Old Basketball Player Sinks 2 Half-Court Buzzer-Beaters

VENICE (CBSLA.com) — An 8-year-old local basketball player has his sights set on the NBA. And what he did on the court last weekend is proof that he has great potential.

Jack Jeffery made not one but two buzzer beaters during a championship game Saturday at the Pacific Palisades Recreation Center.

His team, the Blue Devils, was down by three points with only 6 seconds on the clock at the end of the fourth quarter.

Jack had the ball at half court and sunk a buzzer-beater. The crowd went wild. His score tied the game, sending it into overtime.

Then with only 2 seconds left, he got the ball again at half court. Jack went for another buzzer-beater, and he sank it once more.

The second-grader's father, Colin, did not think his son would make yet another perfect shot. But he did. "He just got one in. There is no chance he was going to get two," he said.

The Blue Devils won the championship in the Pacific Palisades Bantam League finals, all thanks to the talented young athlete.

Jack is no stranger to basketball. He started playing when he was 4. He said when he grows up, he wants to go pro. "I think I can make it to the NBA," Jack said.

He's already met a few celebrities like the Clippers' Blake Griffin and the Houston Rockets' Dwight Howard, who is a former Laker.

"He reads books about it. He practices every day," the boy's father said.
