2 Girls In Custody After Long Beach Chase, Crash In Stolen Car

LONG BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A woman was injured after her car was struck by a vehicle apparently stolen by a couple of girls, Long Beach police said.

Officers tried to pull over the stolen car at Atlantic Avenue and New York Street at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday, then began chasing it in a pursuit that ended a short time later with a crash at 10th and Ximeno Avenue, Long Beach police Lt. Kevin Coy said.

The stolen Toyota Camry, driven by a girl who had another girl as a passenger, crashed into a small white sedan, seriously injuring the woman who was driving the car and was its only occupant, Coy said. The woman suffered serious injuries but exhibited stable vital signs after she was hospitalized.

The two girls were taken to a hospital to be checked for injuries, he said. Police said the girls were juveniles, but would divulge their ages.
