Search Suspended For Swimmer Reported Missing Near Santa Monica Pier
SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — LA County lifeguards and divers searched the waters near the Santa Monica Pier Saturday in response to a report of a swimmer who was last seen clinging to a pylon near the pier. The search was suspended Saturday afternoon.
At about 3:05 a.m., people walked up to a Santa Monica harbor patrol station and reported that someone was in the water, according to Capt. Brian Jordan of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The swimmer was described as a male in black clothing.
Divers and a helicopter were dispatched in the search.
The effort to locate the swimmer ended at 11:30 a.m., after six different searches, in "different variations," Jordan said.
