Girl Scout Touched By Kindness Of Strangers After Losing Purse

GLENDALE (CBSLA.com) — A Hello Kitty purse has been returned to 9-year-old Juliana Rozanski.

"I said, 'Oh my God, I'm so happy,' " she said. "This is the best day ever."

That's because while selling Girl Scout cookies door-to-door last Monday, Juliana dropped it.

Inside was over $150 in cash.

"It has a lot of money I worked for," she said.

Her parents posted fliers around the neighborhood and reported it to Glendale police.

Dispatcher Sally Chong hit up fellow officers for donations and in one day raised enough money to cover Juliana's losses.

"It was amazing the response I got; people didn't hesitate," said Chong.

It turns out the purse was found on the street and picked up by 14-year-old Maddie Bohman, another Girl Scout.

Maddie had an idea it belonged to someone selling cookies.

"I've been a Girl Scout for like 7 years, and you kinda start to recognize the change and the money," she said.

To find the purse's owner, Maddie's mom wrote a post about it on a neighborhood blog and a neighbor viewing the site also saw the flier and connected the dots by Wednesday.

The purse and funds have since been returned to Juliana, and she and Maddie handed out Girl Scout cookies to the officers to show their appreciation.

The two plan to keep in touch.

"Absolutely, I want to see her get her gold award and her silver and bronze. And I want her to stick with it," said Maddie.
