Caught On Tape: Whittier Neighborhood Rocked By Wild Multi-Vehicle Car Crash

WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) —  A Whittier neighborhood was jolted awake by a driver crashing into several parked cars at a high rate of speed Saturday morning.

CBS2's Adrianna Weingold spoke to the car owner whose vehicles sustained damage.

Dramatic video captured on a home security system shows a car careening out of control down a hill and right into a driveway.

The incident happened in Sante Fe Springs near Mulberry Drive.

"It was like a loud explosion, you could hear debris just flying everywhere smoke coming off the vehicle. It was quite scary, actually, for the family," said Mike Stolt.

The Stolt family was home and sleeping when they heard the enormous crash.

A hit-and-run driver is shown barreling towards the house and running into a pick up truck and Expedition. The car then tries to maneuver out of the driveway hitting both cars yet again.

Shawn Stolt's truck is totaled.

"When I saw him back up he saw my truck and my truck hit my bus as well so at that point I knew both my cars had been damaged," Shawn Stolt said.

Sophia Stolt says she was jolted out of bed from the sound of crashing metal. She says whoever was driving, just kept on going all the way to a Marie Callender's restaurant  a couple miles away --  despite the seemingly intense damage to their car.

"My parents had already jumped awake and had the police on the phone, the whole neighborhood woke up it was just scary," Sophia Stolt said.

Police found the car they believed was involved in the hit-and-run but the driver is still at-large.

If you have any information about the crash, you're asked to call Whittier Police.
