Hot (Dog) Rumor Of The Day: Tail O' The Pup Is Returning To Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  Every dog has its day.

When iconic Tail O' The Pup closed its La Cienga location in 2005, it was the end of an era. The closing crushed foodies, lovers of nostalgia, hot dog fans, celebrities, people in the area who loved the quick, affordable place to chow down.

The hot dog-shaped hot dog stand served up awesome hot dogs, great onion rings and wonderful fries for almost 70 years on La Cienega.

According to the LA Business Journal, some new investors are eager to bring the hot dogs back. And the magazine reports, they've found a location about two blocks north from their last location, 329 North San Vicente Boulevard.

The hot dog stand appeared in scores of movies, videos and TV programs. For many years, it was a place to grab a quick lunch and see a celebrity or two.

New owners Kevin Michaels and Brett Doherty (the guys behind Killer Shrimp) are looking at a May 1 opening. The old stand will be replaced by a new one -- seems the old one failed to pass new building codes. Rumor has it, the owners also plan to build another TOTP location in downtown LA.
