Target To Offer Carts Designed For Those With Special-Needs At Stores Nationwide

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — A mega-retailer and favorite among mothers has announced that by next month it will be carrying a shopping cart designed for those with special-needs at its locations nationwide.

Target calls "Caroline's Cart" a game changer for special-needs families.

"These carts are changing everything for us. She's enjoying it. She likes to be in view of everything," said Darlene Rodrigo, whose 8-year-old daughter Bella has down syndrome and autism.

A Northridge Target location has been testing out the carts for three months now.

The carts will be in all stores by March 19.

Many kids can step into the cart on their own.

Those who use a wheelchair can ride safely in it without their parents having to maneuver both a cart and a wheelchair.

Rodrigo hopes more retailers follow Target's lead.
