54-Year-Old Man Hospitalized Following Officer-Involved Shooting In Redondo Beach

REDONDO BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A 54-year-old man remained hospitalized Saturday for treatment of injuries sustained during an officer-involved shooting.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on Friday, officers shot Kermit Johnson, of Redondo Beach, outside of his home located in the 2100 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard while responding to report of a family disturbance call, according to the Redondo Beach Police Department.

Paramedics transported Johnson to a hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening, single gunshot wound to his hand.

No officers were injured during the shooting.

Detectives recovered a firearm at the scene.

Johnson was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, carrying a concealed firearm and making criminal threats. He is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail and will appear in court on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing.
