Caught On Video: Burglar Breaks Into Ojai Restaurant, Steals Safe

OJAI (CBSLA.com) — Police asked for the public's help Wednesday to identify a burglar who broke into an Ojai restaurant and stole its safe.

The break-in happened at about 2:24 a.m. on Jan. 13, at Eggs and Potatoes, 1103 Maricopa Hwy, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

Video surveillance showed the burglar entering the business and removing a small safe and carrying it out. The safe, which measures about 1.5 feet tall and 1.5 feet wide with a dial on its face, contained cash and several blank business checks.

Detectives say no other property was taken during the break-in.

Anyone with information about the break-in or the burglar's identity can call Ventura County sheriff's Detective Will Hollowell at (805) 947-8083.
