Officials Identify 2-Year-Old Killed In Hemet House Fire

HEMET (CBSLA.com)  —   Authorities on Saturday publicly identified the 2-year-old boy killed in a Hemet house fire yesterday.

Nico Torres was killed when a fire broke out at 9:23 a.m. at a home in the 26400 block of Cynthia Street.

Riverside County firefighters responded to reports of a child trapped in the burning house.

The boy was taken to Hemet Valley Medical Center in serious condition, said Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Torres died at the hospital at 10:02 a.m.

After the fire was knocked down, a deceased dog was also found in the home and Animal Control was called out to assist.

The fire was contained at 9:41 a.m. with the assistance of the Hemet Fire Department, Hagemann said.
