Police Hunt For Hit-And-Run Driver That Left 72-Year-Old Pedestrian Dead

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  — The LAPD is hoping the public can help them nab a hit-and-run suspect who fatally struck a 72-year-old man a week ago.

The victim has been identified as Jung Taek Nam.

Officials said around 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 7,  a vehicle was traveling south on Vermont Avenue when it slammed into Nam. The victim was walking eastbound on Francisco Street in an unmarked crosswalk.

The motorist failed to stop to render aid or identify himself as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Nam dead.

The suspect vehicle is possibly a dark blue or purple 2011-2014 Dodge Challenger.

A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
