California Lottery Says Winner Sold Here For $1.5 Billion Powerball; Other Winners Sold In Fla., Tenn.

CHINO HLLS (CBSLA.com) —  California Lottery officials said Wednesday that one ticket in the state matched all six numbers in the $1.5 billion draw.

Pending results from the other 43 states that play the game, the winner in California could walk away with the total prize.

The winning California ticket was purchased in Chino Hills, at a 7-Eleven, officials said. The 7-Eleven is at 4092 Chino Hills Parkway. That store is also going to make about $1 million for selling the winner.

The winning numbers are 4, 8, 19, 27, 34 and the Powerball was 10.

Around the state, 12 tickets were sold that matched all five numbers, excluding the Powerball.

Those tickets were sold in Nipton, Chula Vista, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, Santa Monica, Tustin, Pacoima, Vacaville, Cloverdale, Redlands, Gardena and Irwindale. (The amount of those prizes is also pending.)

Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Tickets for the game are drawn Wednesday and Saturday evenings. The jackpot starts at $40 million and rolls over every time there is no winner.

The world record $1.5 billion jackpot was created after nearly 20 jackpots went without a winner.

One ticket holder won the previous Powerball jackpot of $590.5 million in Florida in 2013.

Late Wednesday, a spokesperson for the California Lottery said winning tickets were also sold in Florida and Tennessee.

Hundreds of people sang, danced and jumped-up-and down outside the 7-Eleven Wednesday night. Presumably, the winner was keeping a low profile.
