Fast Food Chain Looks To Bring $1 Cup Of Gourmet Coffee To Watts

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — An affordable cup of gourmet coffee will soon be coming to Watts.

Budding fast food chain LocoL has plans to bring $1 coffee when its first location opens in Watts later this month, according to the LAEater website.

While most gourmet coffee chains offer their brews starting at around $2 a cup, LocoL co-founder Tony Konecny says the chain is working to develop and produce coffee beans in-house to cut costs.

"We tossed around a few scenarios, strategies, and potential partnerships, but in the end landed on doing the roasting operation in-house," Konecny wrote in a post on Medium.

In addition to cheap java, LocoL is also aiming at offering "a killer breakfast menu" when it debuts on Jan. 18, according to Konecny.

And if you can't stay awake until then, here's a list of some of L.A.'s best coffee shops to keep you buzzing.
