17-Year-Old Girl Shot, Killed While Sitting In Vehicle In Marina Del Rey

MARINA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — A 17-year-old girl who was shot and killed while she sat in her vehicle in Marina del Rey has been identified, police said Thursday.

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, the victim has been identified as Kristine Carman.

Just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to report of an ambulance shooting in a supermarket parking lot located at Glencoe Avenue and Mindinao Way, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities located Carman suffering from a gunshot wound to her head inside of the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Detectives described the suspect they are searching for as an African American man who was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a blue beanie. He fled from the location in a dark-colored SUV, possibly heading towards the 90 Freeway.

The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
