We are still getting hit with some scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening. There will be the chance for some heavy rains sporadically firing off around the area through the overnight hours. The main cold front has passed, and we are left with some cold air and decent instability. It is for this reason, flash-flood watches are still in effect for burn areas.

Snow levels are coming down to 4000 feet. We will have to watch the Grapevine and Cajon pass overnight. There is a good chance that it will be an icy trip through the pass and the CHP could very well slow things down. We have definitely turned a corner with this series of storms. While the models are hinting at some action early tomorrow morning before sunrise, the day will be characterized by partly cloudy skies with the chance for passing showers from time to time. So, we are not completely out of the woods. Friday should be similar, although I'm anticipating mostly dry conditions. There is the chance we could see another wave of rain Saturday afternoon but nothing like what we have seen already. And just as quickly as Mother Nature turns on the faucet, she may be turning it off again. It looks pretty dry for the bulk of next week.  A few systems are slated to hit the West Coast, and it appears they will be doing the same drill where the front falls apart instead of holding together. These rains were very welcome, but anyone who thinks this is a drought buster is mistaken.
