NBA Journeyman Jeff Adrien Pleads Not Guilty For Allegedly Driving Off From Hotel Valet In Mercedes
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Former NBA player Jeff Adrien has pleaded not guilty to a charge that he drove off in a luxury sports car from a hotel valet earlier this month, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Adrien, 29, faces a felony charge of driving or taking a vehicle without consent after he allegedly was seen driving a 2015 Mercedes-Benz S550 and pulling into a Hollywood hotel parking lot Dec. 7, according to reports.
Prosecutors say a guest left his vehicle with a hotel valet and when he returned, he was told his car had already been taken. A short time later, the victim allegedly saw Adrien driving his vehicle and pulling into the hotel parking lot.
The valets attempted to speak with Adrien but he walked away, prosecutors said. Witnesses say the vehicle also had some damage.
He was arrested later that day by officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Division and released on $25,000 bond.
Adrien has played for the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Charlotte Bobcats, Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves.
He is scheduled back in court on Jan. 28. If tried and convicted as charged, Adrien could face up to three years in jail.
