LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Longtime Motörhead singer and bassist Lemmy Kilmister died Monday in Los Angeles after a brief battle with an extremely aggressive form of cancer, the band announced on its official Facebook page.

He was 70.

“We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words,” the band posted to Facebook.

Born Ian Kilmister in 1945, he was the only constant member of the British rock band, the BBC reports.
