The homeowner reportedly rents out the garage and said the previous tenants, a couple, had moved out about two weeks ago.

KCAL9's Stacey Butler reporting from the scene said the discovery was made about 2 p.m.

More than six hours later, detectives were waiting for a search warrant to be able to probe the garage for clues.

A family member of the homeowner's, who went to clean the refrigerator, made the discovery and called 911.

Neighbors told Butler the homeowner rents rooms in his home as well as the garage and people are always coming and going.

"There were a couple of times," said Edgar Maldonado, "where he's been very aggressive. Like parties and social gatherings where he's been in fights."

Butler said the Coroner's Office was looking to send a large vehicle to transport the body and the refrigerator in tandem.
