Anaheim Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Impersonating Police Officer

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) — A 39-year-old man suspected of impersonating a police officer and flashing a gun while fondling two women in separate incidents in the Hollywood area has been arrested, authorities said Thursday.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Joseph Christopher Moore, of Anaheim, was taken into custody at his home on Tuesday.

On Nov. 24, surveillance video captured Moore approaching the first victim on DeLongpre Avenue as she was searching for her keys. He displayed a fake police badge and asked to search her outside of her residence.

As Moore patted the foreign exchange student down, he allegedly fondled her. The victim's reaction to the assault prompted him to pull out a gun and threaten to shoot her.

A second assault took place days later along Kingsley Drive. Moore is accused of pressing a fake badge against a car window while telling the victim that her registration was expired. He allegedly ordered the victim to get out of the car and pop open the trunk in order to search for weapons.

Police said Moore then told the victim to get against the wall and he fondled her several times.

During both incidents, he got spooked and fled on foot from the area.

Moore is being held in lieu of more than $1 million bail.
