Kansas Man Charged With Stalking Singer Lana Del Rey

VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A Kansas man was charged Thursday with stalking and burglary after allegedly being found at singer Lana Del Rey's home in Malibu.

Zachary Benton Self, 19, of Overland Park, Kansas, faces one count each of stalking and first-degree burglary, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. Prosecutors say Self is charged with stalking the singer through social media, beginning on Nov. 2.

Prosecutors say Self broke in Sunday at the singer's home, which was unoccupied while undergoing renovations.

Construction workers called police after spotting Self at the singer's home Monday, but he was gone when police arrived, prosecutors said.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies found Self the next day and arrested him. He has remained jail since then.

Prosecutors plan to request $200,000 bail for Self, who faces up to six years and eight months in state prison.
