Search Continues For Police Impersonator In Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Police sought the public's help Wednesday to locate a man suspected of impersonating an officer and assaulting at least two women in Hollywood.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the suspect assaulted the women after he showed them a fake police badge.

The first assault, which was captured on surveillance video, took place on Nov. 24 on DeLongpre Avenue. The man approached the victim, displayed a fake police badge and asked to search her outside of her residence.

As he patted the foreign exchange student down, the man fondled her. The victim's reaction to the assault prompted the suspect to pull out a gun and threaten to shoot her.

Police said the suspect got spooked and fled from the area on foot.

On Monday, a second assault took place along Kingsley Drive.

The same man is accused of pressing the fake badge against a car window, telling a woman that her registration was expired and ordering her to get out of the car and pop open the trunk to search for weapons.

The suspect then told the victim to get against the wall. He fondled her several times.

Detectives described the suspect as having a tattoo or a birthmark on his left temple.

The investigation is ongoing.

Any additional victims have been urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at (213) 972-2975.
