The Nov. 24 assault occurred after the suspect approached the victim on DeLongre Avenue and asked to search the victim, a friend of the victim who asked to only be identified as Julie told KCAL9’s Rachel Kim.

As the man patted the victim down, he fondled her, the victim’s friend said. The victim, who was described as a foreign exchange student, reacted to the assault, prompting the suspect to pull out a gun.

“He took out a gun from the back of his pants and she said he told her that if she said anything or if she screamed, he was going to shoot her, he was going to kill her,” she said. “She was crying and was very scared.”

Sensing something was wrong even before the attack took place, the victim purposefully led the suspect to an area covered by a security camera, Julie said.

The suspect then apparently got spooked and ran away.

Police said the man struck again Monday along Kingsley Drive when he pressed a badge against a car window and told a woman that her registration was expired. He then ordered her to get out of the car and pop open the trunk so he can search for weapons.

Again, he told the victim to get against the wall and fondled her several times, police said.

Now, police are trying to identify and catch the suspect, who has either a tattoo or birthmark on his left temple.
