Local Hero Gets Surprise Thanksgiving Dinner At Work

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Alfonso Cisneros and a team of nurses at Martin Luther King Jr. Outpatient Center got a surprise thanksgiving dinner on Thursday.

A fancy table set-up and scrumptious food was set up in the hospital thanks to La Brea Bakery.

Over the past few weeks, La Brea Bakery has been searching for their thanksgiving hero.

Searching for someone like a firefighter, volunteer, nurse,  or someone who spends thanksgiving working instead of celebrating with their family.

Cisneros, an urgent care nurse, and his co-workers often give clothes to patients in need, and pack extra snacks for those who wait several hours to see a doctor.

This dinner is a way of saying thank you to those men and women, for their diligence, selflessness, and hard work.

"He totally deserves it," Erlinda Cisneros, Alfonso's wife said.

"He's totally worthy, he's an amazing, beautiful, kind and giving man," she added.

Erlinda Cisneros helped organize the gesture, which humbled her husband.

"To me, this means spending time with my second family," Alfonso Cisneros said.

"This is my second family. Like I said we sacrifice our time, we sacrifice being with our loved ones, because we're open 24/7. We don't close. I'm sure there's a lot of people in the same situation that I am in, there's firefighters, police officers, we're all heroes, in some way, some form," he added.

Even if it's just for a few minutes, these local hereos were able to sit down, eat delicious food, and give thanks to those around them.
