Bundle Up! Cold Weather Alert To Go Into Effect Monday For Parts Of LA County

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Winter-like weather is expected to continue across parts of Los Angeles County where a cold weather alert has been issued.

The alert by the L.A. County Department of Public Health is expected to go into effect Monday through Tuesday for Woodland Hills, the Santa Clarita Valley and Lancaster.

The mountain areas of the county are also included in the alert, which says that wind chill temperatures for the affected areas are expected to be below 32 degrees.

"Children, the elderly, and people with disabilities or special medical needs are especially vulnerable during such cold snaps," said Jeffrey Gunzenhauser, MD, MPH, Los Angeles County Interim Health Officer.

"Extra precaution should be taken to ensure they don't get too cold when they are outside," he added.

The National Weather Service has also issued a high wind warning for the cities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Hesperia and Victorville through Monday at 10 a.m.

Another high wind warning is expected to go into effect at 9 p.m. Sunday through 3 p.m. Monday for Santa Clarita, according to Amber Lee, meteorologist for CBS2/KCAL9.

Lee said snow could develop near the Interstate 5 corridor through the Grapevine by late Sunday.
