CULVER CITY ( — Because of Los Angeles’ place on the world stage, the city must remain vigilant, Mayor Eric Garcetti said in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.

Wearing a French and American flag pin, Garcetti arrived at an event in Culver City after spending much of Saturday speaking with leaders in Washington, D.C., and abroad.

Garcetti said he reached out to the mayor of Paris, who he calls a good friend and wants the French to know that Los Angeles stands with them.

He also wants Angelenos to rest assured that city leaders are taking precautions.

“Here in Los Angeles, we’re making sure that we’ve deployed the airport and other important sites the personnel that we need and the safety that we all ensure,” he said.

Garcetti added that there are still no credible threats to LA.

“I’ve been on the phone with Secretary Jeh Johnson of Homeland Security and others, [including] Chief Charlie Beck and we’re coordinating and using all intelligence,” he said.

Garcetti stressed: “We just all have to be vigilant, all be very safe even though there are no credible threats today.”

Meanwhile, security has been increased at several venues, including the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
