#ThxBirthControl: Women Take To Twitter To Express Gratitude For Contraceptives
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — "Thanks, Birth Control!"
That's the message that spread on Twitter and other sites Tuesday as part of a social media campaign that asks people to express gratitude for contraceptives.
"The ability to plan, prevent, and space pregnancies is directly linked to benefits to women, men, children, and society," wrote the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy on its site.
The group launched the initiative.
Throughout the day, tweets emerged using the hashtag #ThxBirthControl.
Some recognized birth control for providing them with the opportunity to be in charge of their own reproductive health, while others for lighter and shorter menstrual cycles and glowy skin.
Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton and Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27), whose district includes Pasadena, were among several politicians to tweet using the hashtag.
