Amazon Rolls Out One-Hour Delivery From Local Restaurants, Grocery Stores

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Just in time for the marathon-cooking session known as Thanksgiving, Amazon is rolling out one-hour delivery service from grocery stores like Sprouts Farmers Market, Bristol Farms and 99 Ranch Market.

Amazon says its Prime Now app will now deliver from local restaurants including Umami Burger, Sprinkles Cupcakes and Baby Blues BBQ and local grocery stores. Amazon says users will be able to track their deliveries, which will be made in an hour or less.

"Los Angeles is known for great local restaurants with cuisines from around the world," Gus Lopez, general manager of Amazon Restaurants, said in a statement. "We're excited to offer Amazon Prime customers in Los Angeles a fast and convenient way to enjoy some of the city's best restaurants without having to stand in line or brave the traffic.

The service is available in select Los Angeles zip codes, Santa Monica and Culver City to Prime members using the Prime Now mobile app. Prime Now's delivery service will be available on Thanksgiving, but selection will depend on each respective restaurant and grocery store's hours of operation, Amazon spokesman Tom Cook said.

Restaurant delivery is free for a limited time, and customers can pay using the information already stored in their Amazon account.
