Deputies Shoot Attempted Burglary Suspect Near Hotel In Victorville

VICTORVILLE (CBSLA.com) — An attempted burglary suspect remained hospitalized Monday for treatment of injuries sustained in a deputy-involved shooting.

Just after midnight, deputies were sent to the Travel Inn & Suites located on Seventh Street for report of a shooting at an inhabited dwelling, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Upon their arrival, authorities learned an adult Hispanic man shot at the business and attempted to burglarize the building.

Deputies contacted a man who matched the suspect description near the intersection of Lacy and Culley streets.

"The suspect refused to comply with multiple commands given by deputies and a deputy-involved shooting occurred," said sheriff-coroner John McMahon. "The suspect was taken into custody and air lifted to a local area hospital for treatment of his injuries, which are not life threatening."

No deputies were injured during the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
