NASA To Soon Accept Applications For Astronauts For Space Missions

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Do you have what it takes to join the National Aeronautics and Space Administration?

The space agency says it'll soon begin to accept applications for the next class of explorers for space missions.

Applications will be accepted from mid-December to mid-February.

Candidates, according to NASA, will be chosen from a pool of U.S. citizens and may include pilots, engineers, scientists and doctors.

"This next group of American space explorers will inspire the Mars generation to reach for new heights, and help us realize the goal of putting boot prints on the Red Planet," said NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, according to a post on the agency's website.

The agency in September announced that a source of free-flowing water had been discovered on the surface of Mars.
