EL MONTE (CBSLA.com)   —  Authorities say one person was killed and another critically injured in a house fire in El Monte Thursday evening.

LA County Fire was called to the 12300 block of Felipe Street  just after 10:05 p.m.

They said they found the single-story home fully engulfed.

During a primary search, firefighters found an elderly woman in full cardiac arrest. A secondary search found a second victim.

A 55-year-old man was able to escape the blaze, according to officials.

The fire was declared knocked down in about 20 minutes.
