Crews Locate Missing Off-Roader In California Forest

LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST (AP) — Authorities say an off-roader whose motorcycle broke down was found safe after spending a cold night in Los Padres National Forest.

Ventura County sheriff's Capt. John Reilly says the man was located by search teams late Tuesday morning near Mutah Flats in the Lockwood Valley area.

The man, who was riding his dirt bike on forest land, called a fellow rider Monday morning to say his motorcycle broke down. The man couldn't be reached on his cell phone after that call.

Crews on the ground looked for the man through the night and a helicopter search resumed at daybreak Tuesday.

Reilly says the man was in good shape, just cold.

Temperatures in the area dipped into the low 30s as a winter-like storm moved through the state.
