A bride’s canceled wedding reception in Oxnard will feed many homeless people.
The would-be bride wants to remain anonymous.
But she and her father decided, rather than lose the $8,000 deposit for the reception dinner, to donate it to the Ventura County Rescue Mission.
The lavish meal will feed about 150 homeless people next Saturday.
The meal itself cannot be brought to the mission so the mission is busing guests to the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Hotel — the same site as the canceled reception.READ MORE: Riverside County Sheriff's Department Releases Body-Cam Footage Of Fatal Shooting
The mission’s director, John Saltee, calls the bride’s generosity a blessing.
“We’re going to bring the kids and the moms,” Saltee said, “and take those kinds of people over there, to enjoy something they’ve never had the opportunity to partake in.”
An expected guest of the mission’s cannot wait for Saturday.
“It’s just great,” said Victor Ortiz, “A lot of these guys have never had the opportunity to go to something fancy like we are getting. So God bless those people that gave us the chance to go.”
The would-be bride’s father also wanted to remain anonymous but he said he wanted to bring joy to families in need.
A similar donation was made in Sacramento two weeks ago when a groom there reportedly got cold feet and called off his wedding.MORE NEWS: TikTok Star Anthony Barajas Dies After Corona Movie Theater Shooting
