NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — An 18-year-old man from Australia was struck and killed on a freeway in North Hollywood early today.

The victim was later identified as Rishi Chaubal Menon, the coroner’s office said.

Menon was struck in the northbound lanes of the Hollywood (170) Freeway, just north of the Ventura (101) Freeway at 12:18 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

He died at the scene, the CHP said.

It was not immediately clear if the man was struck by a vehicle, or had come out of a vehicle.

The vehicle involved in the incident was no longer at the scene upon the arrival of authorities, the CHP said.
