George Clooney, Wife Adopt Basset Hound Mix Named Millie From Shelter

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — George Clooney and his wife have adopted a basset hound mix from an animal shelter in the San Gabriel Valley.

The San Gabriel Valley Humane Society said via Facebook on Wednesday that the dog named Millie was adopted by the pair.

"She goes home with probably the most famous couple in the world these days, so yeah, Hollywood ending," said Cindy Rigney of the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society.

The shelter says Millie was abandoned earlier this month and found searching for food outside of a restaurant.

The Clooneys decided to adopt her after seeing a photo of her posted online. They were specifically looking for a basset hound and Millie was the only one at the shelter.

"Unannounced. Just walked in our door saying, 'We would like to see Millie please,' " Rigney said.

The couple brought along their other rescue dog so he could get acquainted with his new sibling.

The human society was so thrilled the Clooneys adopted a rescue they posted the news on Facebook, adding "Congratulations and thank you for adopting."

ADOPTED! Millie was adopted by George Clooney and his wife Amal!! Millie, a bassett hound, now has a new brother named Louie who is also a rescue! Congratulations and thank you for adopting!!

"Her character I think will play well with them because they travel a lot and that kind of stuff," Rigney said. "Please do, do get your animal at an animal shelter because you are saving a life no matter where you get it from."
