Ian Naylor was driving on the freeway Saturday on his way into Barstow when another driver pulled up and pointed a firearm, he said.READ MORE: Southland Scholars, Pastors And Activists React To Juneteeth, Nation's First New Federal Holiday Since Martin Luther King Junior Day
“The first thing that shot through my mind was I’m not going to be able to see my kid grow up,” Naylor described. “I saw the muzzle flash, everything, the recoil. It was just “Boom, boom!’ ”
Naylor says the incident occurred after he honked at the driver, who he says was dangerously speeding and swerving.
“I just launched like this on the brakes; I mean, I stood on the brakes, and (I heard) ‘pop pop’ out the window, and it was like it whizzed right in front of my windshield,” Naylor recalled.READ MORE: 1 Killed, 1 Injured In Santa Clarita Crash
Naylor was in his work truck on his final call of the day before heading home to his wife and newborn son.
“I sit there and think about if I lost him, my son would have been raised without a father, and I don’t know how I would have been about to do that without him,” wife Kimberly Naylor said. “How can someone do that to someone, not knowing if they have a family at home or anything?”
Naylor says the driver then sped off in a silver Acura Legend.
California Highway Patrol officers took a report, but they have been unable to find the suspect vehicle.MORE NEWS: Evacuation Orders For 349-Acre King Fire In Lancaster Lifted, No Injuries Reported
