(CBSLA.com) — “Saturday Night Live” is trending after airing a sketch that made fun of last week’s democratic debate.

Actor Alec Baldwin impersonated Jim Web as an intense war veteran. “SNL” cast members Kyle Mooney and Taran Killam played candidates former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’ Malley, respectively, as stiff and unmemorable.

“SNL” stand-out Kate McKinnon resumed her role as a tightly-bottled, type-A version of Hillary Clinton.

“Hello, thanks for having me. I think you’re really going to like the Hillary Clinton that my team and I have created for this debate,” McKinnon says to the crowd, poking fun at what many are calling Clinton’s carefully-crafted public persona. “She’s warm, but strong. Flawed, yet perfect. Relaxed, yet racing full-speed toward the White House like the ‘T-1000’ from ‘Terminator.'”

Then out came Larry David, who unquestionably stole the show with his spot-on Bernie Sanders imitation.

Playing the debate’s host Anderson Cooper was “SNL” cast member Jon Rudnitsky. He sets the stage for the most-quoted segment of the night, when Sanders sounds off on the Clinton email scandal.

“Can I just jump in here? This may not be great politics, but I think the American people are sick and tired about hearing about your damn emails!” David says, reciting the famous line from the Vermont Independent.

“Thank you, thank you,” McKinnon says while shaking David’s hand vigorously. “God, it must be fun to scream and cuss in public. I have to do mine into tiny, little jars.”

The sketch has been viewed more than 2.8 million times on YouTube and is being hailed as one of the best political sketches the show’s aired for this campaign.

Another great line from the “Seinfeld” co-creator and “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star: “I don’t have a super PAC, I don’t even have a backpack … I own one pair of underwear, that’s it!”

According to several reports, Sanders talked about the “SNL” skit while campaigning in Iowa City, Iowa. He said David did a great job and quipped that he does in fact own two pairs of underwear: “That’s a joke. Joke, joke, joke. I have an ample supply of underwear.”
