LA Restaurants Snubbed By Trip Advisor's National Fine Dining Ranking

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles is among the top tourist destinations in the country but when it comes to food, there are those out there who think its restaurants don't rank in the upper echelon.

TripAdvisor.com released a list Thursday of the nation's best fine dining restaurants and none from the City of Angels made the cut.

The critically-acclaimed pinnacle of French dining, Bouley, claimed the top spot. Four other restaurants on the top-25 list are also located in the Big Apple: Le Bernardin, Daniel, Eleven Madison Park and Per Se.

Minneapolis, Chicago, Hawaii, Orlando and Houston were represented on the list, with Charleston, South Carolina, having two restaurants also selected.

There are several Southland restaurants that Zagat has included in its top rankings, including Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills, Providence in Hollywood and Melisse in Santa Monica. But they were all ignored by TripAdvisor, even though diners can easily spend hundreds of dollars per person for a night out at any of the three.

While Southern California was snubbed, Northern California was well represented with four winners, including pioneering Chez Panisse in Berkeley, The French Laundry in Yountville and Restaurant Gary Danko and Kokkari Estiatorio, both in San Francisco.
