Southern California Fall Heat Wave To Cool Slowly
LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — Forecasters can see an end to Southern California's October swelter, but the heat and humidity will not go away quickly.
The National Weather Service says overnight low temperatures early Tuesday look a lot more like high temperatures, with many locations still in the upper 70s and 80s before sunrise.
All that heat will give the day's high temperatures a running start toward levels well above normal again.
Meanwhile, an area of low pressure to the southwest may bring showers and thunderstorms by afternoon and again Thursday.
"The heavy rain will also result in a risk of flash flooding and debris flows in recent burn areas," according to the NWS.
Meteorologists expect a slow cooling trend to bring temperatures down to normal by Sunday, with a second low to the north possibly bringing showers by late Saturday and into next week.
