Operations Resume At LAX After Southwest Airlines Technical Glitch

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Operations resumed at Los Angeles International Airport Monday following a nationwide Southwest Airlines technical glitch.

On Sunday, the incident forced ticket agents to manually process and hand-write hundreds of tickets, which subsequently backed up traffic inside and outside Terminal 1, according to the Los Angeles Airport Police Department.

In an attempt to expedite the check-in experience, representatives with Southwest Airlines urged passengers to arrive two hours prior to their flights and to print boarding passes before arriving to the airport.

A statement on the airline's website explained problems occurred with Southwest.com and the Southwest Mobile app, along with reservations centers in various airports.

Approximately 500 flights were delayed on Sunday.

At this time, there is no indication that the glitch was a result of a hacking incident.

The cause of the technical glitch remains under investigation.
