Irvine Man Suspected Of Repeatedly Tagging Turtle Rock Park Flood Channel, Dumpsters

IRVINE (CBSLA.com) — A 19-year-old man faces criminal charges Thursday in connection with several incidents of vandalism at Turtle Rock Park in Irvine.

Mason Kennedy Modde was holding a spray paint can when he was arrested Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. while exiting a flood control channel at Turtle Rock Park, Irvine police spokeswoman Farrah Emami said. Inside the flood channel, the officer found fresh graffiti that matched the color of the paint in Modde's can, she said.

Over 2 ½ months, there have been approximately 10 incidents of graffiti in the park, with graffiti found in the flood channel and dumpsters in the parking lot, according to Emami.

Modde had moved to Irvine at around the same time the graffiti started, Emami said, and investigators believe Modde is responsible for the vandalism.

Anyone who observes vandalism in progress or who observes pre-existing graffiti can contact IPD at (949)724-7000.
