Police Sergeant Delivers Newborn Girl In Backseat Of Car 6 Minutes After 911 Call

RANCHO CUCAMONGA (CBSLA.com) — A newborn baby girl is resting at home Monday after making her debut in the back seat of a car, with the help of a Rancho Cucamonga police sergeant.

Deputies were called out to Arrow Boulevard and Archibald Avenue at about 2:27 p.m. Friday to respond to a mother in labor, Rancho Cucamonga police officials said.

Sgt. Anthony Vega arrived at the scene and found Candice Hernandez in labor in the back seat of her car and determined that delivering the baby at the scene was their only option, police said. Vega and the child's father, John Hernandez, then delivered the baby girl at 2:33 p.m.
