21-Year-Old Woman Sexually Assaulted Near Cal State Northridge Campus

NORTHRIDGE (CBSLA.com) — A 21-year-old woman was sexually assaulted near the California State University, Northridge campus and the suspect is still at large, authorities said on Sunday.

The assault occurred around 9 p.m. in an alley between Plummer and Vincennes streets, just east of Reseda Boulevard, as a sold-out concert known as Big Show was happening nearby on campus, according to the LAPD.

The victim is a CSUN student, the university's newspaper, the Daily Sundial, reported.

She told police that she tried to attend the concert on campus but was turned away. She was walking through the alley when she was approached from behind and raped, she said.

The woman was treated at a nearby hospital and was released later on Saturday evening.

Big Show is an annual event sponsored by CSUN's Associated Students featuring a variety of musical acts. Tickets are only available to students. This year's headliners included DJ Carnage and rapper Tyga.

No suspect information was immediately available.
