THOUSAND OAKS (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters extinguished a blaze on that erupted at a Planned Parenthood location in Thousand Oaks on Wednesday night.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities were sent to the 1200 block of West Hillcrest Drive for report of a commercial fire, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

Upon their arrival, firefighters located flames burning at the location caused sprinklers to turn on within the building, which were able to extinguish the small fire.

Authorities said one of the windows was smashed in and that an arsonist tossed some kind of accelerant into the building.

"It's incredibly discouraging. That anyone would attack a life-saving provider of women's health care in this way. We are making sure we can re-open as quickly as we can," said Jenna Tosh of Planned Parenthood.

Amy Johnson reported that there have been nine similar attacks on clinics across the country.

The FBI has issued warnings and extra patrols are in force.
