Hazmat Crew Responds To Report Of Suspicious Envelope At Inglewood Courthouse

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they treated a victim Monday who reported being injured by an envelope containing white powder at the Inglewood courthouse.

A hazardous-materials team was called out to the courthouse at 1 East Regent Street shortly before 3 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector David Dantic.

Firefighters at the scene were trying to identify the substance, Dantic said.

The building's second floor had been evacuated and isolated as a precaution, authorities said, and as many as 14 people reportedly were identified for decontamination treatment.

Tests later determined there was no hazardous substance at the courthouse, the Fire Department said.
