Caught On Video: Woman Bizarrely Abandons Car Before It Drifts Into Oncoming Traffic

ROWLAND HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — A video is going viral for capturing a roadway incident that was strange for so many reasons.

A driver was rolling a dashboard camera around 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 1 when it caught a silver Hyundai suddenly brake in the left-hand lane of Harbor Boulevard in Rowland Heights.

After a female driver jumps out of the Hyundai, the car keeps moving towards Dublin Way, traversing the center divider and moving into oncoming traffic. The car slams into a Honda, which is then rear-ended by a Lincoln, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driverless Hyundai keeps going, meandering onto a sidewalk and rolling over two trees before coming to a stop.

The video was posted by user UlikeUC Here to YouTube, where it's been viewed more than 2.8 million times.

The driver, identified by CHP as Jasmine Lacey, 22, of San Bernardino, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Lacey was released from custody on Saturday due to insufficient evidence to support a criminal complaint, according to Los Angeles County booking records cited by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
